"What excites me most about creating a piece of art is the element of surprise that comes with each piece I work on.  I may start out with an idea for a painting or etching and the medium will send me in a whole new direction.  Sometimes it can be challenging but mostly it is very rewarding and just plain fun.  How lucky am I?"  Joan Hayes

Joan has been painting since the age of 13.  A resident of Amherst, NH, Joan runs her own small studio and gallery where she has been selling her watercolors and prints.  I met Joan several years ago as a fellow framer and began selling her prints of her watercolors of local scenes.  In 2002 she was accepted as an artist with Island International Artists in Anacortes, Washington.  Here she trained as a printmaker and now she produces the beautiful hand colored etchings you see here.  We look forward to expanding our offerings of Joan's art and perhaps giving her a one person show sometime in the near future.
